Overthrill’s new Fame and Filth mix, was put up on mixcloud. Sebastian from the band gave us a heads up on it yesterday, but we waited until Overthrill had their three fave mixes up on mixcloud. We at Panik love the guys from Overthrill so much that were able to get the (re)mix-masters as a featured artist on mixcloud. Here’s the latest mixtape, check the others out on their mixcloud page:
One of the many friends of Panik, dropped us a heads-up to this book being out. For all you fixed gear nuts out there, this looks like a book which covers the craze from several angles; the history, use from the track to the modern design and style trends we see on our roads today. There’s also loads of pictures of HOT fixies to perve at/over! Check out a preview of the book at the site.
At Panik HQ we’re goin mix tape crazy, must be cos it’s the end of the week! We dig up this mix tape from DJ Arbiter, Hallowrave 2009. We probably wouldn’t normally put up a ‘novelty’ mix tape – but this, this is something for your treat bags! It’s a great mix of remixed classics and some new ones thrown in for good measure. Check this fella out:

Panik has been trawling about for the sweetest mix tapes for all tastes. Here comes a splendiferous mixtape from Colorama carefully crafted by the band. It is a sweet autumnal mix of warm loveliness. If you go directly to the Colorama site, the write up with the ‘podcast 03′ tells the story behind the mix and the individual background of the selected tracks. You listen and you learn!
The Delmore Brothers – Summertime In A Southern Clime
The band have just got back from supporting Edwyn Collins and are set to do another date with the former Orange Juice front man at the Bloomsbury Ballroom on Nov the 7th. They were also featured on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury as well as a session for Marc Riley on BBC Radio 6.
Brollywood Productions is a new, young company based in the North West of England. They are made up of Mark Kennedy (Artist), Ray Boyle (Creative Entrepreneur) and Austin Collings (Writer/Co-writer of ‘Renegade: The Lives and Tales of Mark E Smith’). Their short film ‘The Extremists’ was first screened in Dec 2008 and are currently working on pre production for a film called ‘Nocturnes’. The Extremists has been well received by all areas of the creative world, George Shaw (English artisit) - ‘The single most disturbing film I have ever seen’. Panik loves the darkness of this screenplay and looks forward to Brollywood’s next film. We have posted a taster of the film below…
A great remix of, ‘You’ve Got the Love’, by one of the darlings of BBC music. A good song made better by this SW London outfit, the XX. The XX met while at Elliot School, other alumni include, Hot Chip, Burial and Four Tet. Their debut album, xx was released in Aug this year on the Young Turks label.
I came across these guys when looking at In Flagranti’s page (who incidentally, I love!). I know the mix is a bit old from last year to be precise. Overthrill is a two man outfit from Germany, who are in my opinion some of the best electro/grind house remixers in the business. They tirelessly release new stuff, mixes and mix tapes via their MySpace page – their Devastate EP is now out. I just had to mention them on Panik as I they have a unique style and have some great artwork done by band member, Sebastian Bentler aka thirtythr33 some of which have a haunting SUPERSTUDIO style to them (look below). For a full track list go to Discodust. The mix encompasses music all across the genres, a bumper 82 tracks to be precise! Check ‘em out, big tings ya know!
Karl is an artist/illustrator based in the UK whose work consists of single pieces and continuing work on a graphic novel. Karl’s work uses mixed media and materials. He combines collage, photography, detailed drawing and paints. His work has a very ‘weird and wonderful’ in his own words, sometimes with a dark and sinister edge to it. The mixture of media creates vivid, unforgettable, unique images that have been used by DJs, venues and bands.
Dash Snow died on the 13th of July 2009, days before his 28th birthday. Though I have never seen or know much about his artwork (aside from internet articles) I saw a link to some images of his. A variety of polaroids taken mainly by himself and some by others documenting his, some might say shambolic life. Illegal graffiti, tagging, drug taking, sex and partying. The photos explore a darker side of New York life of a mis-spent youth some might say. The images make you laugh, smile, turn away in disgust and some make you think what pushed Dashiel Snow of the famous de Menil art aristocracy to become an outcast from his own family.
All I know is the pictures are an amazing documentation of a child of my generation and depicts youth culture in gritty reality.
